A quick checklist for creating an alcohol-free gathering.
Let your friends know ahead of time that your place will be alcohol-free for anyone under 21.
Know who you're inviting and whether everyone is 21+. Don't assume everyone is the same age.
Don't buy, provide or share alcohol with friends who aren't 21.
Make sure everyone living in the space understands the expectations before people arrive.
If alcohol is present for guests who are 21+, keep it separate and make sure underage guests don't have access to it.
Stock up on food, soda, mocktails, games or other activities so nobody feels like they're missing out.
Think ahead about what you'll do if someone brings alcohol, someone under 21 starts drinking, or things get out of hand.
If someone has been drinking, help them get home safely. Don't let someone drink and drive
If you or a friend needs help, know who you can call. Getting someone home safely is more important than worrying about getting in trouble.
