Symptoms/Effects of Use

  • Reduced inhibitions
  • Blackouts
  • Nausea/vomiting
  • Headache/hangover
  • Heavy use can increase risk of certain cancers, stroke, and liver disease
  • Brain damage; impaired function and motor skills
  • Tolerance
  • Malnutrition and vitamin deficiency
  • Permanent damage to vital organs
  • Alcohol poisoning
  • Coma
  • Death

What to Look For

  • Laughing/talking loudly
  • Smell of alcohol on breath/clothing
  • Trouble standing and/or swaying during walking
  • Slurred speech
  • Passed out
  • Vomiting
  • Violence/fighting

Withdrawals Symptoms

  • Sweating
  • Increased pulse
  • Insomnia
  • Hand tremors
  • Anxiety
  • Nausea
  • Hallucinations
  • Delirium tremens (DTs), nightmares, agitation, global confusion, disorientation, fever, hypertension, visual and auditory hallucinations)
