In 2001, North Dakota citizens paid $12.5 million in underage drinking costs. These costs include medical care, work loss and pain and suffering associated with the multiple problems resulting from the use of alcohol by youth. This translates to a cost of $1,808.00 annually for each youth in the state. North Dakota ranks among the highest in the United States for the cost per youth of underage drinking.

Youth violence and traffic crashes attributable to alcohol use by underage youth in North Dakota represent the largest costs for the state. Therefore, (Insert Company Name) supports:

• Programs such as Parents LEAD;
• holding adults accountable for their role in contributing to underage drinking;
• social host laws imposing penalties on adults who provide alcohol to underage drinkers; and
